Public Meeting and Workshops with Owen Jones

Saturday July 27th at Central Hall, Oldham Street, Manchester, M1 1JQ

Doors from 1pm – Speakers from 1.30pm – Workshops from 2pm – Event finishes by 5.30pm

We will discuss the issues and build practical plans to oppose austerity and get as many people as possible to protest at the Tory Party conference in Manchester on Sept 29th.

Here’s a flavour of the workshops that you can get involved in:

An Economy that Works
Join us for discussions on how the economy can be made to work for the 99%. We’ll cover banking reforms, tax justice, the green economy and other related topics – bring your ideas!

Confronting the lies behind the hate
We will discuss the insidious build up of misinformation fuelled by this and previous governments and ideas to build an effective oppositional voice

Do it, film it, share it!
We will get a load of practical media going to build the People’s Assembly and get everyone to the demo on September 29th. Bring smart phones, ideas, creativity and let’s get the word out!

Education and the Tory agenda
Invited to the conversation: University union UCU, teachers union NUT, and Manchester University NUS

Housing People
We will discuss the breadth of housing issues including homelessness, planning, bedroom tax and alternative ways to build a better future including the mass sleep out on August 24th.

Social Security: Another Way
We will be debunk the myths and propose alternatives, including the language used by the Coalition to direct the debate away from those who are really guilty of causing this crisis and onto the worst off in society.
